DRES Ward 6 Senior Wellness Center

SITUATION:
When running for Mayor of Washington DC, one of Adrian Fenty’s promises was to improve living for the over 100,000 seniors living in the city. Since 2010, the city has opened a number of senior community centers. Thanks to the funding efforts the Department of Real Estate Services (DRES), Ward 6 is happy to celebrate the opening of the Ward 6 Senior Wellness Center. Seniors will now have a place to work out in the second-floor fitness room, get computer training, hold community meetings, get a massage, get educated about living healthier or just grab lunch.
SOLUTION:
With the facility near completion, DRES set out to find a fitness company to furnish the equipment for the new room. After meeting with several reps, officials chose Heartline to get the job done. Shortly after, Heartline provided a variety of Life Fitness Achieve cardiovascular equipment complemented with Life Fitness’s Optima series of dual station strength pieces. Each Life Fitness cardio unit came with its own 17″ personal screen entertainment system with IPOD compatibility. The Life Fitness dual selectorized strength stations were a perfect fit allowing users to workout multiple muscle groups on one machine. Add in a full set of dumbbells and a rack and the Senior Wellness Center was complete. When the doors opened in 2013, seniors all across the city flooded in to see their new stomping grounds where they could meet new people, break a sweat in the gym, and continue their expanding education in one of the many training/meeting rooms. Heartline looks forward to helping you and Washington DC residents, continue to build a city of healthy living.
