Heartline Fitness Adds Fourth Service Acquisition In Southeast Region

Rockville, MD, December 5, 2018 Heartline Fitness Systems, a subsidiary of American Amenities, LLC and FirstService Corporation of Toronto, Canada (Nasdaq: FSV), has acquired Atlanta-based, Fitness Equipment Technicians, Inc. (“FitEx”) owned by Doug Broward and Mary Cahill.
“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with Doug and Mary. Doug’s focus on customer service in growing FitEx matches perfectly with Heartline’s brand promise of improving client performance,” says Bob Burgess, President & CEO of Heartline Fitness Systems. “At the end of the day, Doug Broward and FitEx add another building block to our southeast growth strategy as they are aligned with our culture and adherence to service excellence,” added Burgess.
“We partnered with ABR Tech and Jackson Repair in Atlanta in 2017 and saw our Southeast business take off. Now, with the addition of FitEx we’re set to be a real force in the market,” says Jeff Shipman, president of Heartline Technical Services-Heartline’s national service arm.
“After twenty-plus years in business, I’ve seen and done it all in the Atlanta market, and it was time for Fitex to connect with an industry leader, a firm that could take us to the next level,” said Doug Broward.
“We’re thrilled that Heartline was able to mobilize, conduct due diligence, and put our deal together in 60 days,” Broward added.
“FitEx makes the eighth service acquisition Heartline has made since 2010, and a critical one, as it bolsters the foundation of Heartline’s strategy in Georgia and the greater Southeast,” says Shipman. Heartline acquired Ft. Lauderdale-based Studio Equipment Services LLC, headed up by Chuck Day, in August 2018, allowing us to push deeper in the South.
Heartline continues to evaluate strategic partners in major markets who are looking to discuss value creation and growth for tomorrow while experiencing a liquidity event today. Heartline is on a path to create the first nationally-scaled commercial fitness sales and service provider in the fitness industry.
