Heartline Fitness Bolsters Position in the Northeast with New Acquisition

Rockville, MD, May 21, 2019 Heartline Fitness Systems, a subsidiary of American Amenities, LLC and FirstService Corporation of Toronto, Canada (Nasdaq: FSV), has acquired Manchester, New Hampshire based, ProTech, owned by Matt Buote. This continues Heartline’s committed investment to the Northeast fitness sales and service market.

Matt is a 15-year fitness industry veteran.  He purchased ProTech from the original owner in 2017 where he served as a senior service technician for 13 years.  Matt admits he purchased ProTech because the original owner was looking to get out of the business, and he saw an opportunity to grow the company.  After making some initial staff and business process changes to improve the service operation, he extended ProTech’s talents by creating an equipment installation division serving such clients as Technogym and Gronk Fitness.

“After becoming an owner and seeing our rapid sales growth, I could see we were going to need more capital to feed this beast,” Buote explains. “I knew there was substantial opportunity for further growth, but I needed the right partner,” he adds.

“At the end of the day, ProTech adds another building block to our northeast growth strategy they are keenly aligned with our culture and brand promise,”

                         Bob Burgess, President & CEO

“Heartline had the experience, solid reputation, financial wherewithal, and technology to further streamline Protech’s value streams and fully exploit the market opportunities I saw,” Buote adds.
“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with Matt.  His laser focus on growing ProTech aligns perfectly with Heartline’s strategic goals,” says Bob Burgess, President & CEO of Heartline Fitness Systems.   “At the end of the day, Matt and ProTech add another building block to our northeast growth strategy as they are keenly aligned with our culture and brand promise of service excellence,” added Burgess.”We acquired Gym Services (Boston, MA) in 2017 and saw our northeast business take off. Now, with the addition of ProTech, we’re set to be a real force in New England,” says Jeff Shipman, COO and president of Heartline Technical Services – Heartline’s premiere service arm.

“We believe Heartline is one of the few dealerships in the fitness industry that is able to provide clients a complete turn-key solution,” Shipman adds. “In addition to the company’s stable of product brands, Heartline handles all aspects of the order fulfillment process from site assessment to facility design, working with clients to determine optimal brands and equipment mix, delivering, installing and testing the products, to post-installation preventive maintenance and repair services.   All of these services are performed and managed by Heartline personnel and not subcontractors,” he continues.

“As a result, we’re better positioned to ensure project quality, reliability and responsiveness for our clients throughout the entire fulfillment process,” he adds.

ProTech is Heartline’s seventh service acquisition in the last five years.  This acquisition was critical in continuing to elevate Heartline’s position in the New England region.  Heartline continues to inch closer to its goal of creating a nationally scaled fitness sales and service enterprise.

Heartline continues to evaluate strategic partners in major markets who are looking to discuss creating value in their business for tomorrow while experiencing a liquidity event today.  Growth through strategic acquisitions and partnerships is at the center of its commitment to providing national firms with “end-to-end” fitness solutions on a national coverage basis.
